8 Signs You Are Actually a Sensitive Person With an Extremely Strong Personality
For many people, balancing strong and sensitive is difficult if not impossible. Take you, for instance: Most people would say you’re pretty damn fearless and an all-around badass. Your closest friends, though, just how sensitive you actually are.
Check out these nine signs of sensitive badassery:
1) Life still overwhelms you sometimes
In fact, it’s pretty frequently overwhelming. All the shit going on in the world today gets to you: You just refuse to let it stop you from doing the things you want to do. You know that you’re in control of your life, so no matter how shitty it can sometimes be, you just buckle down and go after the things you want.
2) When you call people out, you’re smart about it
When people are shitty, you don’t just sit there and take it. But you’re not the kind of person to lash out wildly, either, because you’re sensitive to who they are and pick up on things other people miss. As a result, when you do call them out, you’ll be respectful about it, both in setting your boundaries and in being constructive.
3) You still need your alone time
Because you are such a badass, sometimes your friends expect you to be ready to go at any moment and always up for anything. And you can be if you need to be! The truth is, though, you need time to unwind, relax, and recharge by yourself sometimes, too, because you’re sensitive to your environment and need that time to reset.
4) You date very selectively
In fact, your friends wonder why you don’t date more. But because you are sensitive to the world around you, and highly intuitive, you can tell almost immediately when someone is full of shit or simply not ready for you. You don’t have much of a bullshit tolerance, so for the most part, you avoid it.
As a result, you don’t settle for people you don’t feel a real, meaningful connection with. You’d rather be alone and strongly independent than with someone that isn’t right for you.
5) You need “real” talk
When people aren’t clear and clean with you, you notice. (Remember: highly sensitive bullshit meter.) And it bugs the hell out of you.
Instead of spending your time trying to figure out what is wrong, or why someone isn’t being completely honest, you’d so much rather they just spit it out. You’re tough: You can handle (and in fact prefer) the truth.
6) You’re not afraid to note how many idiots are out there
That isn’t the same as bitching. Noting that most people are dumbasses is simply an observation, and it isn’t your responsibility to pretend otherwise. And because you are so sensitive to bullshit, you notice just how many dumbasses there are—far more than most people would like to admit.
It’s not snobby when it’s simple observation, right?
7) You actively listen
When your friends and loved ones need an ear to turn to, they know they can count on you, because you’re intuitive to their needs and really, actively listen. And you don’t just listen so you can reply: You listen so you can understand.
Your friends notice the difference, and they love you all the more for it.
8) You don’t need to be the center of attention
It happens often enough naturally, but it’s never intentional. Instead, people just seem drawn to you; for your purposes, you’re just as happy on the sidelines with a few good friends.
And when people try to be the center of attention just because they crave the attention? That bullshit gets on your nerves like none other.
