You’re Not Stupid. No One Is. Here Are The 9 Types Of Intelligences That Prove It
Just saw this wonderful graphic that explains precisely why I always thought I was stupid in school, and grew all my confidence back when I was done with it. See, in school, I was judged by IQ tests and my brain’s ability to add and subtract numbers. I was judged by my ability to memorize data I didn’t give a cr*p about. And I sucked at it all! I was therefore led to believe I had learning disabilities and was a “problematic case.”
It is only when I was done with school and decided to research and write about things I was interested in that I discovered I am a good writer. It is when I dabbled in photoshop that I discovered I had talent in design. It is when I took walks with a camera that I realized I was a great photographer. It is in creating music that I discovered my musical talent. It is in my relationships that I discovered my emotional intelligence. So screw societal and educational standards, and let’s discover the amazing and unique gifts we each hold within! I believe that is the purpose of life after all.
“The fact is that given the challenges we face, education doesn’t need to be reformed — it needs to be transformed. The key to this transformation is not to standardize education, but to personalize it, to build achievement on discovering the individual talents of each child, to put students in an environment where they want to learn and where they can naturally discover their true passions.” ― Ken Robinson, The Element: How Finding Your Passion Changes Everything
