If You Use Facebook Messenger, This Is How You Are Being Monitored And How That Becomes Profit:
Our suggestion: If you still have messenger on your device, you should delete it and re-download it. Then read the terms of agreement. Thats where things begin to look eerie. Also for those who didn’t know this one, check out this video.
One thing that you may have or may not have noticed is that your phone conversations and even…. normal vocal conversations can seem to correlate to immediate hyper-targeted ads. I personally have been witness of this when I bought a new laptop bag from a local store then brought it home to show my friends and him and I had a 2 minute conversation about buying a new laptop bag. First time in my FB using experience, I was served an ad about buying laptop bags as soon as I hit the timeline. Others on Reddit have reported the same thing.
As the screenshot below illustrates (click it to enlarge), users are made to accept an agreement that allows FB to “record audio with the microphone… at any time without your confirmation.”
The TOS also authorizes the app to take videos and pictures using the phone’s camera at any time without additional permission.
Facebook can also “read your phone’s call log” and “read data about contacts stored on your phone, including the frequency with which you’ve called, emailed or communicated in other ways with specific individuals.”
Since the vast majority of people will agree to these terms without even reading them, cellphone users are agreeing to let Facebook monitor them 24/7, making a type of wire tap that even the NSA would be moist about.
Other app companies are also requiring you to allow them to approximate your location, send SMS messages from your phone that cost you money, read your contacts, read your phone status and identity, get “full network access” to your communications (in other words listen to your phone calls), modify or delete the contents of your USB storage, and disable your screen lock (the 4 digit code that password-protects your phone).
Remember information mining isn’t new. Google Now does it to help you get to the airport on time and pay bills. It just seems that interpreting vocal conversations is now a part of that system and its being used to make money from you. If you don’t want this happening, you need to change the microphone settings in your app permissions. Hope this helps.
