Scientists and advanced medical researchers now have reason to believe that our immune and nervous systems can indeed be “voluntarily influenced” all thanks to one man who has already helped many with: Rheumatoid Arthritis, Parkinson’s disease, ALS, Asthma and Cancer…
Also known as the “Iceman” with more than 25 Guinness World Records under his belt, (including one for the longest timed submerged ice bath and climbing Mount Everest in shorts) it’s clear Wim Hof knows a lot about the human body and the strengths each individual has the capacity to reach. His mission? To prove everyone has power far beyond commonly believed over their own body.
In 2011, Matthjs Cox and and Peter Pickers of Radboud University Medical Centre in Nijmegen, the Netherlands invited Hof to participate in an experiment where he was administered a bacterial endotoxin which typically causes hours of intense “flu-like” symptoms. A mild response to the bacteria and lower levels of inflammatory proteins were enough to shock Cox and his team to question what is now believed possible regarding our immune system and autoimmune diseases. “The autonomic nervous system and innate immune system were regarded as systems that cannot be voluntarily influenced”, however Hof had proven this belief to be inaccurate.
Two years later, the same experiment was done on 12 people trained for 10 days with the Wim Hof Method while another 12 people were left untrained as the control group. Both groups were then administered the bacterial endotoxin and under close examination the results showed the trained group were indeed able to affect their immune system:
Through practicing techniques learned in a short-term training program, the sympathetic nervous system and immune system can indeed be voluntarily influenced. Healthy volunteers practicing the learned techniques exhibited profound increases in the release of epinephrine, which in turn led to increased production of anti-inflammatory mediators and subsequent dampening of the proinflammatory cytokine response elicited by intravenous administration of bacterial endotoxin.
For years Wim has faced extremes successfully and taught others how to do the same. In the VICE documentary below, he shows hosts Matt Shea and Daisy-May Hudson to the top of the freezing cold Mount Snezka on the border of Poland and Czeck Republic after only a few days of training. You watch as the two initially skeptical students transform their beliefs, surpassing their expectations and growing spiritually as they believe in themselves on a whole new level.
The Scientifically Proven Wim Hof Method To Influence The Autonomic Nervous System And The Innate Immune Response
Otherwise known as Innerfire: Extraordinary In Everyone, Wim’s method was first validated by the well-respected Feinstein Institute as he proved to scientists his ability to influence his autonomic nervous system.
- Breathing exercises
- Training of mindset/concentration (meditation)
- Gradual exposure to the cold

He also offers workshops and online training programs to facilitate “the extraordinary in everyone” through natural means as we connect our body and mind in balance with nature. A world without sickness is his ultimate vision…sounds like a grand superhuman plan to me.
