New Study Reveals: “Consciousness Remains After The Heart & Brain Stop”

Near-death experiences (NDE’s),  and out of body experiences (OBE’s) have been viewed with great skepticism. Recently, data from the largest-yet study on resuscitated patients revealed some interesting statistics. Out of all the patients that were successfully brought back 40% recalled having  some sort of awareness after their heart and brain had shut down.  That’s right, no pulse, no brain waves, yet some even accurately recalled small details of  the sights and sounds in the hospital room around them.

“I was up there, looking down at me, the nurse, and another man who had a bald head…I couldn’t see his face but I could see the back of his body. He was quite a chunky fella… He had blue scrubs on, and he had a blue hat, but I could tell he didn’t have any hair, because of where the hat was,”- Recalled one patient, which was confirmed  to be accurate.

This study was conducted over four years by the scientists at the University of Southampton examined over 2,000 people who experienced cardiac arrests at 15 hospitals in the U.K., U.S. and Austria. Out of 2,060 participants 330 were successfully resuscitated and 140 agreed to be interviewed regarding their experience. The study showed that 46% of the patients experienced a broad range of mental recollections, 13% claim they felt separated from their bodies, and 2% showed full awareness of their out-of-body experiences…

The study was lead by Dr. Sam Parnia, from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He stated that”It has often been assumed that experiences in relation to death are likely hallucinations or illusions, occurring either before the heart stops or after the heart has been successfully restarted, but not an experience corresponding with ‘real’ events when the heart isn’t beating. Estimates have suggested that millions of people have had vivid experiences in relation to death but the scientific evidence has been ambiguous at best. These experiences warrant further investigation.” Dr. Parnia believes many more people may have NDE’s but brain damage, drugs, and sedatives used in the process of resuscitation can effect recall.

While this topic needs much more delving into to be properly understood, it is evidence like this that reminds us how much we do not know about life, and death, and how science is still constantly evolving. Things that were deemed crazy yesterday are being presented with scientific evidence today. There is a deep need for further investigation in these topics.

Keep your curiosity high, heart open, and mind sharp, because there is much more to be discovered.
