The United States Navy has discovered how to turn seawater into fuel. Funny how this hasn’t made the evening news of late. The new fuel will cost about the same as gasoline and this “game changer” technology is still in its beginning stages. Just imagine what will happen when it’s refined and perfected.
US Navy Scientists say that they have found a way to convert seawater into jet fuel. Researchers from the Navel Research Laboratory or NRL have developed a way to extract carbon dioxide from seawater. This process produces hydrogen and then converts that hydrogen gas into a liquid fuel.
This system could save many hours from the at-sea refueling process.
Most of the US Navy’s ships run entirely off of oil and with the exception of some nuclear-powered crafts this is a big game changer for the fleet.
“For us in the military, in the Navy, we have some pretty unusual and different kinds of challenges,” says Vice Admiral Philip Cullom. “We don’t necessarily go to a gas station to get our fuel. Our gas station comes to us in terms of an oiler, a replenishment ship. Developing a game-changing technology like this, seawater to fuel, really is something that reinvents a lot of the way we can do business when you think about logistics, readiness.”
Hopefully nothing will stand in the way of this technology coming to all ships and sea side citites.
This is a huge threat to fossil fuel and we should expect legislative action to try and sweep it under the carpet. The profit loss for fossil fuels is estimated in the trillions as this green technology comes into the limelight and, unfortunately, the Republicans tend to target this kind of breakthrough and eliminate it. It will be hard for them to do so with the looming threat of an economic collapse over fossil fuel shortage.
Helping the environment by reducing CO2 Levels
The process of turning seawater into fuel will pull carbon dioxide (the greenhouse gas that is leading climate change) out of our oceans. Our oceans absorb CO2 and have almost reached the safe limit.
With the oceans becoming more acidic from the increased CO2 the delicate ecosystems, like coral reefs which keep the oceans healthy, it’s only a matter of time before we do long lasting damage.
Pulling a massive amount of CO2 out of the oceans will allow more excess CO2 in our air to be absorbed into the oceans. Which we can then continue the recycling process and at the same time help our planet for the better.
Big Oil will Suffer from this Renewable Technology
The fossil fuel industry will be devastated from this technology. We will no longer have a reason for opportUniSt countries to wage war such as those in the middle east. The trillions that are spent on this war can now be focused where it needs to be, advancing the human race…not corrupting it.
If this technology is allowed to exist, every oil backed leader with fall and the world will know that it’s possible to live without fossil fuels. Imagine the advancements in technology and our daily lives if we stray from the path our corrupted leaders have led us down and start to build a healthier and more eco-friendly world.
