When you think of spirituality what do you think of? A sense of connection to something bigger than ourselves is how I would explain it; it typically involves a search for the meaning of life. A universal human experience that touches us all…
While no two people are alike on their spiritual paths, many people who are pursuing spirituality often end up adopting similar habits and behaviors. People with a spiritual mindset tend to do things differently than the rest of the world, having a lifestyle that reflects their new level of awareness.
We live in a world of awakening and desire to change, never seen before. A lot of people have become more conscious and aware of issues and practices that have lasted for too long and that must change. People want to take their life back! Their consciousness grows, their interests evolve, the meaning of life changes for them, and they have completely new aspirations and inspirations, coupled with the desire to change themselves in order to also for many, change the world in which we live.
Here are 8 common habits of spiritually conscious people:
- They often have organic, gluten-free, or vegetarian diets
Many people in the spiritual community are up to speed on current nutritional knowledge. It rubs a lot of people the wrong way; speaking about GMOs, pesticides, and environmental destruction of animal agriculture. But, you really don’t care do you? After all the body is a vessel for the spirit. It is only natural to be aware of what you put in it!
Being grateful for life on a daily basis is something that never slips the mind of people who are spiritually centered. Thanking the moon, the sun, the food you are about to eat, and the universe are things which you may find yourself doing that other people may find weird.
- Forgive and love unconditionally
I have found that practicing unconditional love and forgiveness in underrated; they are unsung healers. Forgive or pour your love out on someone without any expectations. You cannot call yourself a spiritual person if you are holding grudges and being hateful. What right do you have to judge others and dish out punishments? People who are spiritually aware have no need to take themselves so seriously and acknowledge the feelings of others.
- They are conscious rebels
A rebel with a cause is what our generation really needs! Leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. and Gandhi were highly spiritual people, but they were rebellious spirits personified. They believed in their visions when others had no faith. They were so deeply sincere with their missions. Real, authentic spirituality demands that sort or behavior. Spiritual people stand up for what they believe in, even when ridiculed.
- A deep yearning for meaning in your life
A lot of things that spiritual people used to do have no interest to them anymore. Old places that you used to go or people you used to see, don’t have quite the same taste. Spiritual people need meaning to their lives! They need to have a purpose, a goal! A job that is meaningful, they do things to contribute to the well-being of the world!
- Meditation and Yoga
One of the most important attributes to a spiritual path is having a deep connection with the universe through one’s own consciousness. Many people find themselves using meditation and yoga to increase their sense of unity with the universe and to receive energy from source. Many people use it to separate themselves from certain thoughts and emotions.
If you look, you will see that it is not that uncommon to see people meditating on a park bench or bus stop, perhaps even at their jobs. A lot of people find it weird, but people who are pursuing a route of higher consciousness see it in a different light.
- Positive Attitude
Everyone has a bad day, even people who are spiritually conscious, but generally speaking, they are much more likely to spread love over fear. While they may not ignore the negative, they just choose to not dwell there. Spiritually conscious people tend to avoid drama and fighting as much as possible.
- Cooperation over competition
This may be a dog eat dog world, but most spiritually minded people tend to have a “we are all in this together” mindset. When the ego becomes less of a priority, competition does not really seem to make much sense.
Cheating and lying to get ahead is not an issue with the spiritually conscious. Karma returns to you what you give out, this is why spiritually minded people are eager to cooperate and get along.
While not all spiritual people do these things, the point of recognizing common habits of spiritual people is not to see that they are not alone on their journey. For everything you do that other people may find weird remember that thousands of other people can relate to that very same experience!
