Most people rely almost entirely on sight to understand the world around us. This makes it difficult to imagine how someone deprived of this sense experiences life and sees other people.
Something like beauty is one thing that is particularly difficult to imagine without sight. A lot of people have the idea that because blind people can’t see, it doesn’t matter what a person looks like, and while might have some level of truth to it, blind people still have a very definite idea of what makes someone beautiful.
These blind people were asked to describe what beauty is to them, and their answers give not only a keen insight into how they experience the world; but is shows that just because they don’t associate it with the same visual ques as others, beauty is still just as important and meaningful to them as everyone else.
