Wine spritzers seem to be the drink of the summer, but they are definitely not something that you want to cuddle up to on a cold winters night. Coffee and tea are always an option, but hot chocolate is a classic.
So, the question is; what should you put in your mug when the winter weather hits?
The answer? Red wine hot chocolate! Recently, the internet has become obsessed with the idea od red wine hot chocolate. It is not a new concept, but let me tell you, it is DELICIOUS!
- 3 Cups milk of choice
- 2 Cups red wine (I like Cupcake Red velvet wine)
- 2/3 cup dark chocolate chunks
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the milk and chocolate chips. Whisk the mixture constantly until the chocolate is melted into the milk and what you are left with is a thick and creamy chocolate milk.
Now, to take it up to the next level, pour in the red wine and heat until everything is heated evenly, but do not let it come to a boil.
Optional- You have the option to sweeten, if you are going to go this route I suggest starting with 1/3 cup of sugar and adding more if you like it sweeter.
Pour into 2 mugs and top with your favorite whipped cream or marshmallows. Enjoy!
