For the first week the Palmbergs family ate their usual non-organic meals, daily urine samples were taken. In independent tests conducted by the Swedish Environmental Research Institute, eight of a set of 12 scanned for pesticides showed up in their systems. Then they made the switch to 100% organic food for two weeks. New urine samples were taken, within just a few days nearly all of the pesticides had been eliminated from their system.
Currently, little is known about the long term effects of these herbicides, and pesticides in our bodies. Some studies are beginning to link certain pesticides with developmental disorders. This small study shows a glimpse of the difference in our bodies when we are able to eat organic.
