This Penguin Swam 5000 Miles To Reunite With The Man Who Saved His Life!

For the last 5 years a Magellanic penguin had traveled 5000 miles / 8046 km to spend some time with the Brazilian man, Joao Pereira de Souza, who saved his life.

De Souza found the penguin back in 2011 soaked in oil, close to death and laying on the local beach near his small island village just outside of Rio de Janeiro. Joao cleaned and fed the penguin to build his strength before trying to release the penguin back into the sea. The penguin ended up saying with the man for 11 months that time! Since then, JinJing leaves De Souza for a few months at a time to but always comes back to spend up to 8 months out of the year with the man who rescued him.
