For photographer Richard Renaldi, a stranger is simply a friend you haven’t yet made—and his most recent photo project proves it.
Walking down the streets of New York City, Renaldi asks strangers to pose together in his photographs in intimate ways, as if they were family members, friends, even lovers.
His directions to his subjects are brief, and he doesn’t ask them to show much affection, and yet, looking at his photos, you’d never know they were strangers. Instead, each photo appears to show genuine bonds, the facial expressions and body language reflective of actual family members, friends, even lovers.
